“And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.” Romans 8:30
You are enough.
For a long time I thought I needed to be a certain type of mom in order to be considered “good enough” people were watching my husband was watching. Maybe he wants a ”mom mom” I thought, someone that will bake cookies in the kitchen with her kids “I'm not like that!” I felt inadequate. Maybe my kids want a mom that will show up to every PTA meeting, a mom that will take them to the park every weekend or do arts and crafts with them around the table...“I'm not it!”
As the waves of inadequacy washed over me I felt that maybe, working outside the home would be best, that way people wouldn't see how bad I was failing, perhaps my loved ones would find an excuse of why I couldn't do the things they expected of me. But being a full time mom gave me the opportunity to really understand that my husband and kids had no expectations, I was the one with the expectations. They just wanted me to be there. That's all.
I believe we run away from motherhood yes, I am of the idea that we don’t want to be mothers not because it’s an easy “job” or very routinely, or because there is no recognition nor pay...I believe we run from it because it's hard and puts us face to face with our shortcomings our raw humanity.
God has a real lovely way of equipping us in what He has called us to do. Motherhood is no different, one day at a time He gives us the tools we need in order to be prepared for what's ahead. So let me encourage you with this, God called you to be a mom, He has equipped you, He is developing you, He has made you enough and He is transforming you into the mother that your kids need.
